Develop the character just as much as you would a protagonist, and show typical mastermind behavior: someone who is strategic, controlling, shrewd, thinks big, is attracted to power, etc. They will also be fascinated by certain things – how something works, a person’s knowledge, etc. that has to do with whatever they are plotting. They are always on fact-finding missions and manipulative to get the information they need so they can launch their plans. They will not be distracted by other things and have a single-minded focus for the most part. Chances are they are quiet, not showy, and observe everything. Their brain is always working.

Whatever it is that they are planning and plotting though, give them credible reasons for wanting it. They believe they are smarter and more capable than others, but that isn’t enough…ask yourself why they want THIS thing – what are they trying to prove? What motivates them – revenge? Justice? something else?

If I was to create a mastermind, what would I do?

Thanks,
Jacob.

Thanks for the feedback! I figured that the lightning part was an appropriate symbolism for changing characters to evil.

Also, I just realized after posting my comment that I must have forgotten to include Lucario’s role as a Protagonist, so my bad.

Still I enjoyed using the Character Builder profile, and I hoped to use it again.

Looks like you really dug down deep, which is terrific! The more you know about a character’s motivation, needs, fears, emotional shielding, and behaviors, the easier it will be to write them and their every action, choice, and decision because it will align with who they are. Great work here. 🙂

I don’t know why “Protagonist” didn’t show up. I tested one of my own characters and it did show it on the PDF, so maybe it was a funny glitch? Let me know if it happens again, okay?

Hope you are enjoying the Character Builder, and One Stop!

So I have used the Character Builder feature, and these profiles are the results: https://www.deviantart.com/ricardomcneilpkx/art/Lucario-Character-Builder-Profile-843862423

https://www.deviantart.com/ricardomcneilpkx/journal/Toshineko-Hirozaki-character-profile-841588653 Strangely, the Lucario didn’t have the ”Protagonist” word, despite me choosing him as a protagonist, but I just wanted to test the features, and I think they were useful! What do you think of those profiles?
