Hi, Tricia! It’s akin to spinning a hundred different plates each time we write, isn’t it? There’s so much to hold in our heads, and inevitably, we can’t do it all. I find that this level of detail is often done after I’ve made my way through a full draft. As an editor, it might be the kind of thing I’m prompting the writer to weave into the existing solid bones of a scene.
