I think we hear a lot about starting with action, but this can be misinterpreted by writers as “movement” and we see the character getting up, preparing for their day, driving from a to b, etc. and this action isn’t furthering the story in a meaningful way. Or, they start with high action (say a fight, car chase, battle) and forget to deliver the context needed to ground the reader and make them invested. Your bookends of start late, leave early and why are right on the money, and you give a clear look at what we should include to further the story and pull readers in.
