I’m so glad, V.M.! Pain can do a lot for a story, and I think ‘unseen’ pain can be a great way to make the reader nervous about the character, that potentially things are more serious than they seem. Concussions can be run-of-the-mill…or not. And, they can be an additional source of connection and ‘knowing’ if the reader, or someone they were close to, ever experienced one.

In my current WIP, begun at the Battle of Hastings, my protagonist has received a blow on the head that rendered him unconscious. The section on concussion is most helpful for that.
