The thing I love most about scenes like this is the way characters have to compartmentalize to achieve a goal. I can only imagine the pain, but his need to get back to the group forces him to shove aside the pain and focus on the task. Good stuff – I am glad this helped. 🙂

In my current WIP my protagonist has suffered burns to his face and upper body. He needs to move away from the area quickly before he’s found to get back to his friends. Except for emotional injury. Okay, once I did have a young man scrape his knee badly, and it did affect how he was able to run. If I do inflict any other injuries, I will remember your advice.
