Hi Jay! Have fun with the cliche twists – I learned that myself from Margie Lawson and it is by far my most favorite way to add fresh writing. (And, shhhh, Australia may be in the works 😉 )

It can hard in the moment to figure out what the should look like, but you give some great tips and examples here. Thanks!

And recognising the emotional level of the scene is a good place to start – and finish. We want our pearls to pop, not to get lost behind glimmering light and other shiny things that distract.

Won’t you please come to Australia for a cruise?

I never thought of looking at it like that. Thanks for these great insights.

Viscerals are special and powerful. But, they are also finite (sort of like facial expressions), and while we can describe them in many fresh ways, we don’t want to overuse them as it will drain them of their power. Saving them for the moments when we want to make a bigger impact is a smart strategy. 🙂

Thanks for this great post, Christina!

I love when I read an emotional experience described in a way I’ve never heard before. This is a great quick-and-dirty breakdown of how to do that. Thanks for being here, Christina!
