I think we all start out writing those quick success stories because it’s just easier. But real life is full of starts and stops and regressions. Once the character decides to change course, they’ll start moving the right direction. But they won’t always stay on the straight and narrow.

I used to want the character to try to change and succeed too quickly, and this is such a great reminder that they won’t always stay on the right path, especially if we push them using emotion amplifiers.

I should print this up on a Post It near my laptop!
